Promises to Fight for Our Community

Roberts currently serves as a member of the Zion-Benton Township High School District 126 School Board.

“I am running to fight for our communities,” said Roberts. “As a school board member, I worked hard to provide great educational opportunities for children while protecting the pocketbooks of parents. We ran our school board with no referendums and without a deficit, and that kind of fiscal success will benefit our community on the Lake County Board.”

Prior to running for school board, Roberts had been active in the community for years, serving in leadership roles on the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and parent networks of her school system. She plans to bring her passion for community service to bear at the Lake County Board, fighting for community priorities like fiscal responsibility, economic development and a better transportation infrastructure for residents.

“Our community is our future, and it needs new leadership on the Lake County Board. We deserve to feel like our elected officials are fighting for us, not themselves,” said Roberts.

“I ran for school board because I saw first-hand that parents and teachers needed a voice,” Roberts continued. “And the same is true on the Lake County Board. We can’t constantly ask taxpayers to foot the bill for tax increases that the County Board asks for. It’s time to focus on real priorities, like job creation and better public transportation.”

Roberts is a life-long resident of Lake County, where she grew up with her parents and three brothers. She currently lives in Beach Park with her husband of thirty years, Douglas Roberts. They have a son Joseph, a political science major at Ohio State University, and a daughter Anne, majoring in early childhood education at the College of Lake County.

Gina Roberts is honored to serve as a member/officer of the Zion-Benton Township High School Board District 126, and looks forward to the privilege of representing you on the Lake County Board.
